Sweetie is an inanimate toy dinosaur, yet over time he has become a member of our family. My daughter, Melany, gave him his name, and from that moment on, he seemed to take on a life of his own in our imagination.

It makes me think about the importance of being seen and appreciated. Sometimes, being noticed, valued, and given a place can change the course of a life—or at least the way we experience it.
